ARTICLE 27. DISTRICT DECLARED WEATHER EVENT

In the event there is a district declared weather event and learning has been cancelled prior to the start of the school day or an E-learning day has been declared pursuant to MN Statute 120A.414 Subd. 1 an employee will receive 1.5x pay for hours worked on that day if required by the employer to work onsite. Employees who do not have equipment to work remotely are expected to report to work. Employees who do not have equipment to work remotely may request to use a day of vacation or other approved paid leave if approved by the employer. An employee permitted to work remotely shall receive their normal rate of pay for the day. Employees working remote are required to work and remain available in the same manner as if onsite.

For employees working the 2nd shift, should the District declare a weather event anytime during the school day and students are sent home early and/or after school events are cancelled and employees are required to report or remain onsite shall be paid 1.5x pay for hours worked that day.

Employees who desire to leave due to weather conditions and/or safety concerns may do so by utilizing accrued vacation or other forms of approved leave. Sick leave is not considered a form of leave in this event. In addition, employees must receive approval from their supervisor prior to leaving.
